I was looking on the new Ford Owners website and under Sync Services, it said my non-Navigation equipped 2011 Flex had a new Sync update, v4.4. I dumped it to a USB stick and tried following Ford's instructions, while the instructions were somewhat close to actual I was able to fumble my way through and finally got the update installed.Mar 16, 2015 My car is a 2013 ST1, so no MFTouch; just Sync and limited nav. My car came with Sync software version 'Gen1-v4.1.2F'. I upgraded to 'Gen1-4.2.1F' on July 11, 2013 and periodically reconfirmed to ensure there was no new update. Then yesterday I upgraded to 'Sync-v4.4'. See the screen cap for what's included in the last two updates. All the best. 4.6 is out for Gen 1 sync systems. I just saw today that 4.6 (GG1T-14D544-AB) is available through the sync update tab at owner.ford.com. So far the install hasn't worked for me yet, but that may be just due to a crappy usb drive.

- Apr 29, 2016 Trying to update from Gen1- v3.1.6.C to v4.4. The update was available through Ford, downloaded and placed onto a USB successfully, but SYNC could not detect the files on the USB when I tried to update in the car. Any suggestions?
One thing to remember if you try this is that there are time gaps when things appear frozen, you have to wait for those to catch up, then the next procedure will start. There are 2-3 re-boots of the system, gotta keep waiting for the 'Installation Complete' message.

I went back to the FO website to validate the install from the USB stick, the website uploaded an .xml file from the USB stick and said it was done.I had to re-pair my bluetooth iPhone.
I haven't tried any of the improvements yet.
